What is the Council Against Abuse of Older Persons?
We are a collective of individuals and organizations that have an interest in advocacy, education and, in some cases, provide intervention to older adults who are at risk or are being abused. We have been providing education in Hamilton about abuse of older persons since 1985. Our goal is to increase our community's ability to recognize and respond to abuse of older persons. We have 21 organizations represented on our Council. We meet monthly (last Thursday of the month) 9 times per year. There are many opportunities to become involved on the Council. Depending on your interest you may want to focus on Multi-Cultural Issues, Education, Communication or as a member at large. You may contact us at for more information.
